====== Process Physics ====== A new method for the modelling of reality is currently being developed called Process Physics. In process physics we start from the premise that the limits to logic (which are implied by Gödel's? incompleteness theorems and more recently the work of [[Gregory Chaitin]]) mean that any attempt to model reality via a formal system is doomed to failure. Instead of formal systems we use a process system, which uses the mechanisms of self-referential noise and self-organized criticality to create a new type of system capable of realising both our original formal physical modelling of reality (in particular we believe that the formalisms of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics can emerge from process physics) and the random truths of Chaitin, which we believe will lead to a model capable of exhibiting features such as the direction of time, the present moment effect and quantum state entanglement (including EPR effects, nonlocality and contextuality), as well as perhaps still unknown effects. http://www.socpes.flinders.edu.au/people/rcahill/processphysics.html ==== papers + links ==== * Cahill/Klinger/Kitto * Smart Nanostructures and Synthetic Quantum Systems http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/quant-ph/0111026 * Process Physics: Inertia, Gravity and the Quantum http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/gr-qc/0110117 * Process Physics: Modelling Reality as Self-Organising Information http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/gr-qc/0009023 * Self-Referential Noise as a Fundamental Aspect of Reality http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/gr-qc/9905082 * Self-Referential Noise and the Synthesis of Three-Dimensional Space http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/gr-qc/9812083 * Bootstrap Universe from Self-Referential Noise http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/gr-qc/9708013 * Pregeometric modelling of the spacetime phenomenology http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/gr-qc/9605018 * THE OBJECTS OF MEANING FROM THE LIMITS OF LOGIC http://www.fractalprism.com/article1022.html ==== related nodes ==== *[[Quantum Physics]] *[[Algorithmic Information Theory]] *[[Incompleteness]] *[[Limits of Logic]] *[[Limits of Mathematics]] *[[Complexity Theory]] *[[Fragments of Heraclitus]] *[[Randomness]]
