This is the 100 Syllable Mantra (of Bon). I'm not sure why the Phurpa group titled it as the “Fundamental Mantra.” It may have that title somewhere, but it is more commonly known as the 100 syllable mantra. It is usually said (100,000 times) as an atonement for evil deeds during Confession/Purification practice as part of Ngondro (the foundational practices of Tantra and Dzogchen)… In this use, the prayer isn't the prayer of confession itself, but as part of the purification for atonement. nuadu
