While examining the relationship between people and plants in Gent I have witnessed the potential for a future where humankind has a less destructive impact the environment. In our quest to live, grow, eat and prosper, it is important to adopt systems and approaches which support and nourish the natural world. We need to communicate with nature, not dominate it. I have come across various individuals who seem to be major ‘activators’ in leading a return to local and sustainable systems. By this I mean they are bringing together ideas and people to create networks to harness the collective power to make positive change at a local level. Barbara Raes is one of those people. | While examining the relationship between people and plants in Gent I have witnessed the potential for a future where humankind has a less destructive impact the environment.
